Ultrasound Tech

The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing all ultrasound exams, ensuring proficiency in producing technical and diagnostic scans for interpretation. Positions patient and equipment and produce an appropriate recording. The Ultrasound Technician is responsible for processing and transmission of images.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Performs all standard Radiology examinations with knowledge of departmental routines and procedures. 
  • Attends to patients physical and emotional needs during ultrasound procedures.
  • Explains procedure to patient when necessary and checks for signed consent before procedure is performed. Notifies Radiologist per policy and procedure.
  • Performs procedures on patients of various age groups and disabilities. Demonstrates age-specific competency.
  • Able to adjust and manipulate ultrasound probe to produce images per department standards. 


Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent completion of an approved Ultrasound Program.  

Minimum Experience: Minimum one (1) year experience in Ultrasonography procedures in an acute care setting preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Minimum one (1) year experience in Ultrasonography procedures in an acute care setting preferred.
