Infection Control/Employee Health Coordinator

The Infection Control/Employee Health Coordinator assists the Infection Control Director in monitoring and investigates known or suspected hospital and community acquired cases of infections, in order to determine the source and take steps to control and prevent further infections. 



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assists in reviewing sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed.
  • Assists in providing related education to staff.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to Infection Control Director. 
  • Assists the Infection Control Director in coordinating, planning, directing and evaluating policies and procedure to control and prevent infection throughout Southern California Hospital at Culver City. Assists in conducting regular rounds in all hospital department to monitor and follow infection control practices with staff personnel.
  • Collects data on nosocomial infections from all hospital departments and helps maintain records of each case. Assists the director in conducting continuous surveillance to detect the source of infection for prevention purposes.
  • Helps prepare and participate and assist in the organization of regularly scheduled hospital infection control meetings.                                                                                             
  • Prepares monthly statistical data for presentation in the hospital infection control meetings.                   ​


Qualifications

Minimum Education: LVN, RN or BSN degree in Nursing and/or certification as a CLS specializing in Microbiology and/or an MPH from an accredited School of Public Health; preferred.

Minimum Experience: One (1) year acute care experience in Nursing or in Microbiology in an acute care setting; preferred. One (1) year experience as an Infection Control Coordinator; preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse or Clinical Laboratory Scientist from the State of California or degree MPH in Infectious Disease Epidemiology or degree in Science from an accredited School preferred.
