Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Under the Direction of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager, the Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator oversees all responsibility which includes community liaison with local, county and state planning activities to include preparedness, mitigation and education as well as designs and conducts drills and exercises offering expertise to departmental directors with regard to Safety and Emergency Management. 

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide a safe environment for hospital patients, visitors and staff through management and leadership of the Safety and Emergency Preparedness programs.
  • Responsible for the Safety and Emergency Management Plans in accordance with state, federal and accrediting bodies
  • Serves as operational manager of the Alta Safety program - coordination of individual and committee efforts and informs Administration and Governing body of important safety and emergency management issues.
  • Position will serve as a resource in the development of grant proposals related to Emergency Management for LA County.  
  • Conducts employee education on related programs and evaluation of all Safety and Emergency Management programs provided by Alta Los Angeles Hospitals.  


Minimum Education: Four (4) year degree in related field or a minimum of five (5) years equivalent combined experience in safety and emergency preparedness.

Minimum Experience: Five (5) year’s Healthcare Safety and Emergency Management and/or previous supervisory experience.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Valid driver’s license, Mass Casualty Decontamination, IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.
