Director - Perioperative Services

The Director of Perioperative Services manages organized nursing services and is accountable for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced in the Surgical Department. As a member of the Nursing Management Team, the Director of Perioperative Services ensures the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services consistent with the organization’s mission, goals and objectives and support disciplines in an environment of respect and dignity.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Develops, interprets and enforces standards in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, Title XXII, DNV and JCAHO.
  • Integrates nursing policies with organizational policies.
  • Closely collaborate with Marketing and strategize to assure a partnership in promoting Surgical / Perioperative Services, demonstrating responsiveness to the local and national market.
  • Build effective working relationships throughout the organization with leadership, staff, physicians, customers, suppliers and the public as appropriate.
  • Continually assess and improve care and services provided to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of patient and their families.
  • Foster continuous quality improvement by leading teams in use of quality management tools and processes.
  • Provides direction to assure appropriate management of organizational resources with fiscal responsibility.


Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited Professional School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science degree preferred. Completion of a Critical Care Course preferred.

Minimum Experience: Three to five (3-5) years clinical experience in an acute hospital setting plus three years (3) progressive management experience; Knowledge of Performance Improvement concepts; Knowledge of theoretical and practical approaches to delivery of nursing services; Current computer skills required.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current California RN  License. Current American Heart Association (BLS), (ACLS) Certification. Certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
